Hip Transplant Surgeon
Hip replacement doctor surgery is a procedure in which the surgeon operates on a hip joint with arthritis and replaces it with an artificial limb made of metal and plastic. The procedure should relieve painful hip joint, making walking easier.
What Happens During Hip Recovery Surgery?
Hip replacement surgery can be performed traditionally or by using what is considered a mild invasion technique. The main difference between the two procedures is the size of the cut.
During routine hip replacement surgery, you are given general anesthesia to relax your muscles and get some deep sleep for a while. This will prevent you from experiencing any pain during surgery or becoming aware of the procedure. Spinal anesthetic may be given to help prevent pain as an alternative.
The doctor will then perform a cut on the side of the hip and move the muscles attached to the top of the thigh to expose the hip joint. Next, part of the joint ball is removed by cutting the pumpkin with a saw. The artificial limb is then attached to the thigh using cement or a special material that allows the remaining bone to attach to the new joint.
The doctor then repairs the hipbone surface - removing any damaged cartilage - and attaches part of the socket to the hipbone. The new ball is part of the thigh and then inserted into the hip socket section. A drain may be inserted to help drain any fluid. The doctor then tightens the muscles and closes the cut.
Although most hip replacement surgery today is performed using a standard procedure (8 to 10 inches from the side of the hip), in recent years some doctors have been using a less invasive technique. By way of a slight attack, the doctors performed one to two cuts from 2 to 5 inches in length. The same procedure is performed with these small incisions as a normal hip replacement surgery.
Minor cuts are thought to reduce bleeding, relieve pain after surgery, shorten hospital stay, reduce the appearance of scars, and speed up healing.
However, it is important for the surgeon to be highly skilled in this procedure. Studies have shown effects with an invasive-invasive approach may be worse than conventional hip surgery instead if performed by a physician who is less experienced in the procedure.
Since there may be blood loss during hip replacement surgery, you may need a blood transfusion, so you may want to consider donating your own blood before the procedure.
